The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue Review

Hoop Dee Doo Musical Revue ReviewThe Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue is a dinner show located at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground near the Magic Kingdom. The old west theme features singing, dancing, audience participation, and a whole lot of good food.

Gary and I had talked about going to the Hoop-Dee-Doo for a while now, but just never found the right trip to fit it into our schedule. On our most recent vacation this past April, Gary booked it as a surprise for me. Spoiler alert: we both loved it and we’ve already talked about going again on a future trip.

We had category 1 tickets, which meant our seats would be on the floor closest to the stage. Category 2 is located in the back of the floor, while category 3 is in the balcony. On our visit it wasn’t sold out, so everyone had seats on the floor. Our particular seats were located basically in the center of the center of the floor, with both of us sitting side by side so we could have a perfect view of the stage.

This was our table setting as we were seated. You can see Gary’s hands reaching for the salad and there was also corn bread waiting for us. The menu listed what was to come: fried chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, and corn. Oh, and how about some (included) sangria? We tried both the red and white and got a refill later in the meal. (You can also get beer or wine included with the price.)

I asked for the special menu since I’m a vegetarian.

I ordered the House Pasta Primavera, which was included in the price as well. Gary still got everything that was included in the regular menu.

Here’s my salad.

And this was our view of the stage before the performance started.

The show itself is very funny and entertaining. I was seated next to an older couple, and one of the performers took a liking to the husband. She sat on his lap and twirled his mustache and the audience loved it. They’ll ask if anybody is celebrating a birthday or anniversary and they’ll have an appropriate song for that.

The performers will take breaks so you’ll have some time to eat a little bit before their next set. The food is brought out in buckets.

Gary declared the fried chicken the best he’s had in a long time. I ate some of the potatoes and corn and they were spot on. And then a ginormous plate of pasta arrived. The pasta was wagon wheel shaped, with vegetables, and covered in marinara sauce. It was so much food I think I barely ate a third of what was presented to me.

More singing and dancing and then it’s time for dessert.

And yes, they’ll even sing and dance about dessert.

Your server appears on stage and delivers your strawberry shortcake to you. It’s a huge dessert that is meant to be shared, not an individual sized portion.

And with that, this wonderful show and dinner is over.

Disney's Ft. Wilderness CampgroundThe Hoop Dee Doo Revue is located in Disney’s Ft. Wilderness Resort & Campground. We drove here, which required parking in a lot near the entrance, and taking a bus to Pioneer Hall. You’ll pass the cabins, RVs, and you’ll see a lot of people driving around on golf carts before you get to your destination. If you are at the Magic Kingdom or the Contemporary Resort, it’s a nice boat ride and it docks right near Pioneer Hall. Don’t let anyone talk you out of visiting Ft. Wilderness because it’s a “hassle” to get there. It isn’t. We’ve dined at Trail’s End, have gone to Chip and Dale’s Campfire Sing-a-Long, and have even had an archery lesson at the campground. Ft. Wilderness is an awesome place. I am not a camping type person, but even I want to camp here someday.

In summary, two big thumbs up for the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue. Have you been here? Do you plan to go on your next Walt Disney World vacation?
